Gabe Watson scored Piedmont’s game-winning touchdown on an 83-yard kickoff return with less than two minutes in the contest at Hayward on Friday.
Linebacker Joe Cumbelich sacked Hayward’s quarterback twice in the final series to clinch Piedmont’s 24-20 victory over the Farmers Friday.
Defensive back William Bird nabbed Piedmont’s only interception and tallied nine tackles at Hayward.
Wide out Andrew Meredith caught three passes for 64 yards and scored on two of them at Richmond High on Friday.
Cole Gruendl was efficient in Piedmont’s 46-0 rout over Richmond on Friday, throwing 5 of 7 for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He had nice blocking all night: pictured is Connor Addiego (57).
Matt Burge (52) scored Piedmont’s first points of the night with a defensive safety and was a big force on the line in Piedmont’s goal line stands.
While head coach Scott Coats and his team weren’t terribly pleased with the way PHS played, the Highlanders still put up another offensive spectacle on the road Friday, defeating the Richmond Oilers 46-0. (more…)
