What a game! The Highlanders came out smoking to build a 21-0 lead, but McKinleyville’s QB had Piedmont defense under siege with an incredible 38-43 for 355 yard night through the air. In the end it was McKinleyville that succumbed to Piedmont’s lightning strikes on offense and final clock draining drive, as the Highlanders set the single season record for most wins in a season. This Friday night Piedmont hosts Justin Siena, a rematch of the week 1 game that Piedmont won 24-14. Both team have improved since that game guaranteeing another barnburner at Witter Field this Thanksgiving Friday at 7:00 pm.
The Highlanders came out clicking on all cylinders in the first round of the NCS Division IV playoffs versus Kennedy of Richmond. Gabe Watson set the pace with four first half touchdowns, thanks to an offensive line that turned Kennedy defenders inside out on run plays and stopped them cold on pass plays all night. The result was 45 first half points and smooth second half for a dominating NCS first round win.This Friday night at 7:00 pm Piedmont hosts McKinleyville of Eureka, a team coming off their own impressive 42-0 performance against El Molino.
The Highlanders faced a tough and determined Alameda Hornets squad in the regular season finale of 2014 last Friday night at Witter Field. With an undefeated season hanging in the balance, Connor Garrett powered through the Alameda goal line with 2:06 left in the game to put Piedmont up 21-14. Alameda’s 4th down pass feel incomplete, giving Piedmont it’s first undefeated season in 38 years. The NCS playoffs begin with Piedmont hosting Kennedy of Richmond this Friday at 7:00 pm. The Highlanders traveled to San Lorenzo for a Saturday afternoon contest and walked away with their 9th win of the season. Another total team effort on both sides of the ball was the perfect recipe for the Highlanders’ 38-12 victory over the Rebels. Piedmont heads home for their season finale against the Alameda Hornets, and one more win will secure an undefeated season for the first time sine 1976. Kickoff time is 7:00 pm this Friday. Piedmont thrilled the Homecoming crowd with a gritty performance versus a talented Mt. Eden team in route to a 42-24 victory. A tough bend but don’t break defense held the Monarchs at bay, while Gabe Watson’s 187 yards set the pace for the offense. The Highlanders closed out their fourth consecutive road game with their second 46-0 victory of the season over Arroyo High. It was another total team effort from all 3 sides of the ball en route to another strong gridiron performance. The win set Piedmont’s winning streak to 7 in a row heading into the Homecoming game against a solid 5-1-1 Mt. Eden Monarchs team this Friday October 24th at 7:00 pm. In an epic battle on a dusty Hayward field, the Highlanders needed every bit of 4 quarters last Friday night to improve to 6-0 with a 24-20 win over a determined and tough Hayward opponent. The team showed it’s mettle with a last-minute kickoff return for a touchdown to reclaim a lead it had lost only seconds before and two final QB sacks to ice the game. The Highlanders traveled to Richmond and put forth another solid performance in route to a 46-0 victory. Piedmont continued it’s outstanding start, improving to 4-0 with a total team effort versus the Albany Cougars. The Highlanders built a 58-0 lead before Albany added a final touchdown late in the game. Gabe Watson closed out the first half with a 99 yard TD run, the longest run from scrimmage in Piedmont history.
